500cc standing for 500 cubic centimeters, is a popular engine size for motorcycles. For awhile, 500cc dirt bikes, were very popular and considered the most prestigious class. In recent years however, they have diminished in popularity and been overtaken by 250cc sized engines, and more recently 450cc.
